Poetry, or prose? That is the question.

Okay guys. Today is Thursday. Thursday is my roleplay night, so that's always fun! I'm gonna be very honest with you, I have no idea what I'm going to write tonight, so I'm probably just gonna ramble on and hope for the best... Like I do with my essays!

Cold. Dark. It was very dark. Chris hated the dark. She never knew what to expect when there was no light. Especially now, when not only was their no light, but she was sealed away in a room. She had no idea where, for how long, or why. All she knew was that she was here...
She knew there was light, and that there were people watching her, because they fed her. It wasn't much, barely food at all, but it was sustenance all the same. From what she'd seen, her gaolers were all armed; they had some form of automatic rifle and a baton. She hated the batons... Her spine and ribs still ached from her last beating, just because she dared to speak to one of the guards. The one thing she couldn't figure out was the why, why was she here? She was a journalist, and not even a very famous one. She still covered fashion shows and pet rescue stories. The only real story she'd covered recently was a body found in the Thames, and that was only because it was her who found it whilst out jogging. She knelt and scrabbled for the tray of gruel that had been left for her, her hair hanging in limp clumps across her face. She ate. It tasted of dust, with a texture of wet gravel. It tasted of desperation.
Piercing light cascaded into this otherwise featureless cell. It had been dark for so long that Chris recoiled from it as the bulky, silhouetted guard strode in, baton in hand. Clearly they were bored again. She had grown to become numb to the beatings now, numb even to her own anguish.

There had to be a way out, surely?!

Well, that's all for tonight. That was kinda fun, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna carry this on, or where I'd take it if I did, so we'll have to wait and see... Right, I've got my last assessment of the semester tomorrow morning, so I'm going home to go get me some much needed beauty sleep...

Catch y'all on the flip side!
Craiggy.
