Well now, today's the day, back on Facebook. This makes my life so much easier when it comes to advertising this blog. It's been a busy end to a busy week, and now I plan on finishing it off with the concluding part to Entwined and then copious amounts of anime and xbox. Fun times ahead! I'll apologise in advance if I space out a little, as I am currently watching much anime with peoples so will have to be social too...
It didn't take long for my phone to go off again. This time it was a text message with location details for this meeting. An abandoned apartment block. Why was it never a meeting in a posh hotel or something? Seven PM. That didn't give me much time to prepare. Barely enough time to return to my apartment and grab my equipment. I didn't even know what I needed for this; I knew I'd have a fight on my hands, but didn't know how to prepare. Ranged combat, short to mid range, I'd have to get in close. I didn't plan on taking my punch pads because if it came to a fight, I'd need to finish it, fast.
"Dec, are you sure about this?" It took me a while to come to a conclusion. To be honest, I wasn't sure what I was planning. "I'll let you know when I figure it out myself." There was an unusual calmness about the city tonight. I'm not one to read into omens or anything, but it was unsettling to say the least. I arrived at the apartment building just a little before seven, hoping to get a little chance to scope the place out. Four floors. Most of the windows were either broken in or boarded up. There didn't seem to be anybody around. I made my move, letting Shane's senses wash over my own so I was on full alert.
First floor. That's when they made their move. Two figures crashed their way through one of the apartment walls into the corridor. They were clearly rogues; their bodies were much bulkier than an average human, standing close to seven feet tall. One had a lack of pigmentation to their skin and their head hung at an odd angle on their neck, the other seemed to have an exoskeletal construct around their left hand, like a giant mace of bone.. I didn't wast time. They looked slow, so I dashed and ducked my way behind them, jumping to kick the albino from their rear flank. It was like kicking concrete, literally. Cracks formed on the creature's neck and a shiver of pain shot up my leg. I stumbled a little as I landed, knocking me off balance so I wasn't prepared for the other's attack. The weighty bone hand collided with my abdomen and sent me sprawling along the corridor and through into the room at the end of the hall. It took me a few moments to catch my breath as I stared at the ceiling. There, looking back at me, looming over my face was the featureless form of the faceless killer. Shane was yelling something in my mind, but my head was pounding so much I couldn't make out what he was saying. The faceless figure stretched out a hand, their index finger extending, the skin splitting at the tip as the bone spiralled and pierced through the flesh, drawing closer to my face.
"Mr. Leighton, so glad you decided to join us..." Even when right in front of them, their voice sounded oddly disembodied and still had that recording-esque crackle. I coughed and forced myself to sit, but the freak with the bone mace pushed me back down, their mace fist firmly on my chest. I felt a rib crack. Air was wheezing out of my lungs now as I tried to regain focus. "I trust you have decided to join our cause, to be reborn?" I tried to shift beneath the weight of the mace on my chest, blood spattering out of my mouth. This was bad. I could barely even feel Shane right now. There was a seering agony within my head. That was the last thing I remember before blacking out.
When I awoke, I was alone. I couldn't here Shane. The faceless killer was nowhere to be seen, and neither were the two abominations. I staggered to my feet and tried to make sense out of what had happened; that was when I saw my reflection. There, on my neck, just above my collarbone. I had a honeycomb pattern... Whatever was happening, I would change. I was going rogue...
So, there we go. In typical Craiggy fashion, I wanted to leave this open to possibly follow up at a later date with a continuation of the plot. I have some ideas, so I reckon this is another project I'm gonna pick up at a later date.
Adios for now,
Craiggy.
