Hello 2011! The challenge begins...

Okay, so it's the new year, I'm operating currently on four hours sleep and a sainsbury's meat feast pizza but I'm damn well not backing down on my challenge! I'm gonna make sure I have a piece of original writing every day this year to hopefully further develop myself as a writer.

Today, I'm feeling somewhat prosey, so here we go:

There was the thunderous crack of a shotgun firing, then silence for only the briefest of moments; then the screams began. Tyler had no idea what was happening - where he was, what he was doing. It took a moment to register the crowd around him, running, screaming. It took a moment more to realise that he seemed to be the source of their panic. He looked down. Before him lay the glistening, mulchy remains of a person, now indefinable as they were missing the top portion of their body, including their face. Tyler was more confused than afraid. He looked to his hands and saw the still smoking shotgun in his hands. Then he realised. Then it all slotted together like a child's puzzle toy - the right shapes in the right holes. He dropped the weapon and fell backwards, the colour draining from his face as he scrabbled backwards on the concrete. He'd killed somebody! He had no memory of this happening, he had no intentions to kill anybody. He didn't even know who this person was, but that didn't matter now, they were still dead. Sirens sounded in the distance. Tyler stood once more, turned and ran, panicked. He needed to find somewhere, he needed to hide, to think things through, to clear his head. He needed to remember! As he ran, Tyler noticed the date on a newspaper stand, 1st of January, 2011. It was the new year? But that couldn't be right, could it? The last thing he recalled was boxing day night, he went to that club... It's name evaded him, but one thing he did remember was her. She'd know what was going on. She'd have answers! He turned down an alley and paused, crouched behind a dumpster to catch his breath. He had to find that woman. He had to return to the club...

That's all I'm gonna do for now, but I kinda like where this one was going, so I'm definitely going to continue this. In fact, I think I'm going to make that this week's project, so every day this week you're gonna get another chunk of this story, which as soon as I figure out a title for it, I'll let you know...

Adios for now, and have an amazing start, and continued 2011! God bless!
Craiggy.
